Assistant draft to record
Sequence diagram. The text on this page has the exact steps and permissions.
What you'll do
After the steering call, you want to know what's still open before Thursday. You'll ask the assistant, then have it draft a task for the gap it finds. You stay in control: nothing is saved until you apply it.
Steps
-
1
Open the assistant from the workspace header.
-
2
Ask a specific question: "What's still open on the Northstar patient portal launch before Thursday?"
-
3
Read the answer and the records it lists. Open any you want to check.
-
4
Ask for a draft: "Create a task to assign an owner for DNS rollback, linked to the launch project."
-
5
Review the draft. Fix the title, assignee, or due date if needed.
-
6
Apply the draft. It's saved as a normal task, using your normal permissions.
Checkpoint
What you should see
- A new task "Assign DNS rollback owner" in Tasks, linked to the launch project.
- The assistant run listed in Agent activity.
- Nothing else changed in the workspace.
Tips for good drafts
- Name the client and project in your question.
- Ask for one record at a time.
- Say what to link it to, for example the project or a request.
FAQ
Can the assistant create records without me?
No. It drafts, and you apply. If you don't apply a draft, nothing is saved.
Why did the assistant say it couldn't do something?
It may be missing AI access, a funded generation source, or permission for that action. Hosted AI needs credits; BYOK needs a valid selected provider key. It says so instead of pretending it worked.
