Overview

The client portal is an authenticated, project-only view for client users. You choose what each project publishes, and clients only see the projects you grant them.

Invite a client

Owners and admins invite portal clients from the client portal page in organization admin.

  1. 1
Open Organization admin and choose Client portal.
  2. 2
Enter the client's email address and pick one client project from this organization.
  3. 3
Flopinio emails the invite. When the client accepts, they join as an external member with the client portal access profile and get access to that project.
  4. 4
To give an existing portal client another project, grant access from the same page instead of sending a new invite.

Access rules

Portal access is deliberately narrow.

  • Inviting portal clients requires a plan that includes invites. Portal clients do not count toward member limits.
  • Granting and revoking project access requires MFA and a recent sign-in, and each change is recorded as a security event.
  • Portal clients have no access to the rest of the workspace. Changing a portal client to an operator access profile counts toward member limits.
  • Revoking access removes the project from the client's portal immediately.

What clients see

Each portal project page shows the project name and status, plus only the records you mark for the client.

  • Roadmap steps marked client-visible.
  • Tasks marked client-visible, with their status, description, and due date.
  • Project updates: active notes tagged client-visible or client-update.
  • Decisions waiting on that client's sign-off.

What clients can do

  • Comment on client-visible tasks. Clients see only comments marked client-visible, and internal comments stay internal.
  • Sign or reject decisions where they are the named signer, with an optional comment.
  • Switch between projects when they have access to more than one.

Example

Sharing the Northstar launch with the client

You invite Northstar's product lead to the Patient portal launch project. You mark the four launch milestones and the "Confirm appointment flow fix" task as client-visible. After the weekly review, you approve a client update. When the lead signs in, they see the milestones, that task and its status, the update, and the fallback release decision waiting for their sign-off. They don't see your other tasks, your time, or the invoice.

What stays private

Files, invoices, time entries, requests, and internal notes are not shown in the portal. Anonymous share links are not available; every portal user signs in.

FAQ

How do I publish a task to the portal?

Mark the task client-visible. Its comments stay internal unless an individual comment is also marked client-visible.

Can a client edit tasks or roadmap steps?

No. Clients can read published records, comment on client-visible tasks, and resolve their own decision sign-offs.
