Quick verdict
For a freelance developer, the expensive gap is between the place a client asks for something (often Jira or Slack) and the invoice that has to justify the hours. Flopinio keeps that trail: requests and assigned Jira issues become tasks, time is tracked on those tasks, and invoices are drafted from the tracked entries. It is not a code tool and does not replace your issue tracker.
Jira assigned issues become tasks
Time tracked per task, client, and project
Invoices built from completed time entries
Where a developer's billable hours go missing
Small asks in Slack, a quick call that turned into an hour of debugging, a Jira ticket you picked up for one client while another waits. Hours slip when the timer lives in a different tool from the work, and invoices get vague when they cannot point back to the tasks behind them.
A developer workflow in Flopinio
Connect Jira to import issues assigned to you as tasks, and Slack or Gmail (paused; read-only when available) to bring client messages into External Inbox.
Turn each client ask into a request or task under the right client and project, keeping the source link.
Start the timer from the task, or from Telegram with /time when you are away from your desk.
Use notes for technical context and convert agreed approaches into decisions the client can sign off.
Preview completed time for the client, import it into an invoice draft, apply your rate, and send the invoice with a PDF.
Rates, rounding, and currency
Default hourly rates can be set for the workspace, a client, or a project. Invoices can round imported time to 0, 6, 15, or 30 minutes, per task or per entry. Each invoice has its own currency, with USD, EUR, GBP, or RON as the workspace default; Flopinio does not convert between currencies.
Working from Claude or another AI client
If you already work in Claude or another MCP-compatible client, the Flopinio MCP connector (Beta) can read tasks, notes, requests, and invoices you have access to and stage writes such as time entries. Writes wait for manual review by default, and each person connects their own account.
When Flopinio is not the right fit
Flopinio does not do everything an all-in-one freelance suite does. Today it does not offer:
Proposals, contracts, or e-signature.
A sales pipeline or CRM for leads.
Built-in card payments. You can add a payment link to an invoice and record payments manually.
Booking pages, scheduling links, or public intake forms.
Native mobile apps or languages other than English.
Retainer-hour budgets or budget alerts.
If you only need a timer, a dedicated time tracker is simpler.

Google connection availability and data use
Gmail and Google Calendar connections are currently paused for public use while verification and security readiness work is completed. Google Sign-In is separate. When available, Gmail intake is read-only; AI/search processing requires a separate owner opt-in. Captured Google text stays in a separate private source section unless explicitly shared, and is erased with its derived copies on disconnect. See the Google integration guide and Privacy Policy for availability, retention, and deletion details.
Common Questions
Does Flopinio sync with Jira both ways?
No. The Jira integration imports issues assigned to you as Flopinio tasks. Status changes are not written back to Jira.
Can I track time without opening the web app?
Yes. The Telegram bot supports /time for timers. The macOS Desktop Recorder is built, but its verified download is not currently available.
Can I show the client which tasks I billed?
Invoices are built from tracked time entries linked to tasks. The client portal shows client-visible tasks but not invoices or time entries.
Is there a free plan?
Yes. The Free plan allows one client and two projects, which is enough to try the full loop with one real client.
Can I bill non-billable work separately?
Time entries have a billable flag, so non-billable work can be tracked without landing on the invoice.
Try the request-to-invoice loop on the Free plan
Signup starts a free workspace with one client, two projects, and one member, enough to run a real request through to an invoice. Paid plans are listed on the pricing page.
